# Never Lose a Follow-Up Again - Introducing the To-do List

Every property now has a shared to-do list. Add tasks yourself, or let the AI note down the follow-ups your analysis turns up and tick them off when they are done.

Good analysis ends in actions. A redirect chain to fix. A metric to re-check once the release has bedded in. A landing page test to run next week. And in practice, a lot of those actions die in the chat they came from: the conversation scrolls away, the answer was long, and the follow-up you meant to act on is never seen again.

Today we're launching the **To-do List**. Every property gets a shared list of follow-ups, and the AI can add to it and tick things off while you chat.

---

## The AI Writes Things Down For You

When an analysis turns something up, the AI adds it to the list on its own - *"fix the redirect chain on /blog"*, *"re-check organic sessions on 1 November"*, *"compare the new checkout funnel after two weeks of data"*. We made that the default on purpose: a follow-up written down is better than one forgotten, and you can always delete the ones you don't want.

It never happens silently. Whenever the AI adds, completes or reopens a task, it says so in its reply, and an **Added to to-do list** chip appears in the conversation header. People don't always read to the end of a long answer, so the chip is there to catch your eye and takes you straight to the list.

You can also be direct:

- *"Add a to-do to re-check organic traffic on 1 November."*
- *"I fixed the canonical tags, tick that off."*
- *"What's still open on the to-do list?"*

The AI checks the open tasks at the start of an analysis and when you ask what to work on, so earlier follow-ups come back up when they're relevant. It only completes a task when you say it's done or the data in the conversation clearly shows it, and it never deletes one unless you ask.

## A List, Not Another Dashboard

The list itself is deliberately minimal. Open any property and click **To-do** in the sidebar:

- **Add a task** at the top and press Enter. Click the calendar icon first if it needs a due date.
- **Tick it off** with the circle; finished tasks fold into a **Completed** section.
- **Star** what's important and **drag** tasks into your own order.
- **Click a task** for notes, the due date, and a link back to the chat it came from.

Tasks the AI added are marked **Added by AI**, and overdue dates show in red. That's it - no boards, no statuses, no setup.

## Shared With Your Team

Like [AI Memory](/blog/your-ai-analyst-now-remembers/), the list belongs to the property, not to one person. A follow-up raised in your colleague's chat shows up on everyone's list, and anyone on the team with Write permission can close it.

Everyone with access to the property can see the list. Changing it needs **Write** permission - for you, and for the AI acting on your behalf. In **Incognito** conversations the AI can read the list but won't change it.

If you [connect your own AI](/docs/connect-your-own-ai/) through your personal connector, it can use the list too, with the same permission rules.

## Memory vs. To-do

The two sit side by side and do different jobs:

- **AI Memory** holds facts - things that are true about your business and stay true.
- **The to-do list** holds actions - things someone needs to do, which get ticked off when they're done.

---

## The Fine Print

Free plans can keep 25 open tasks per property; paid plans go up to 500. Completed tasks don't count, so finishing work frees up room. If the list is full, the AI tells you what it wanted to add.

As with everything in AI Data Stream, the AI side runs on [your own API keys](/blog/keeping-ai-analytics-costs-low/) at cost, and tasks live in your team's own isolated database.

## Try It

Ask the AI about something that changed recently on one of your properties, then open **To-do** in the sidebar and see what it noted down. Or just tell it:

> Add a to-do to review this again in two weeks.

The To-do List is available now on all plans. Full details are in the [To-do List docs](/docs/todos/).
